About Hine Nui Te Po:
Hine-nui-te-pō is the Goddess of Death and Night in Māori mythology. She is the daughter of Tāne, the God of the Forest, and Hine-ahuone, a woman created from the earth. On discovering that Tāne is also her husband, she fled to the underworld and became Hine-nui-te-pō. She is depicted as a powerful figure who welcomes the souls of the dead to Rarohenga, the underworld.
